AUSTIN – The Austin American-Statesman Top Workplaces named the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) one of the Top Workplaces in the Greater Austin area for the second consecutive year.

“We are honored to be named “A Top Place to Work” for the second year in a row. I am so proud of how our employees serve the State of Texas, and equally proud of the inclusive, innovative, and collaborative culture we foster at DIR,” said Amanda Crawford, DIR’s executive director and the State of Texas’ Chief Information Officer.  “We are the state’s technology agency, but our people are at the heart of all we do, and I am inspired every day by the dedicated public servants I have the privilege to lead.”

The designation is based on an analysis of DIR’s employee’s answers to an anonymous survey administered by Energage LLC. The survey measures 15 “culture drivers” that Energage deems “critical to the success of any organization.” The survey asks employees about how aligned they feel with company goals and objectives, alignment, execution, and connection.

In 2021, DIR was named a Top Workplace in the US and a Top Workplace in the Greater Austin Area, and also received the Top Workplace recognition for the Greater Austin Area in 2014.

As the state’s technology agency, DIR's mission is to serve Texas government by leading the state's technology strategy, protecting state technology infrastructure, and offering innovative and cost-effective solutions for all levels of government. With a vision to transform how Texas government serves Texans, DIR collaborates with state leadership, state agencies, education sectors, local government, and industry leaders to shape statewide technology priorities.  DIR manages the state's IT security initiatives; communications technology services (both statewide and at the Capitol Complex in Austin); IT cooperative contracts; shared technology services; and Texas.gov, the official website for the State of Texas.
