DIR Seeks Participants for Texas Volunteer Incident Response Team

Individuals with cybersecurity incident response experience and other technical or non-technical skills can assist with responding to cybersecurity incidents in Texas.

Texas Volunteer Incident Response Team (VIRT) provides eligible public entities rapid cybersecurity incident response assistance. The Texas VIRT is comprised of volunteers with expertise addressing cybersecurity events that supports Texas agencies, institutions of higher education, and local government organizations to respond to significant cybersecurity events.

VIRT volunteers serve under the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR)’s direction and have the opportunity to use their cybersecurity expertise to support Texas entities throughout the state.

Incident response practitioners with expertise in addressing cybersecurity incidents may apply for membership on the Texas VIRT by completing the VIRT Volunteer Application and submitting it to DIR for review. For more information, including how to apply, see the Texas VIRT information sheet.
